Rupee opens higher at 68.14 per dollar

The Indian rupee gained in the early trade on Tuesday. It has opened higher by 7 paise at 68.14 per dollar versus previous close 68.21.

The Indian rupee gained in the early trade on Tuesday. It has opened higher by 7 paise at 68.14 per dollar versus previous close 68.21.

Commodity market tips

US dollar lost ground against the basket of currencies, with Sterling looking the most resilient among the pack. For Euro, the focus will be accentuated on ECB policy meeting tomorrow, where expectations call for an a six-month extension to their asset purchase program in order to boost inflation and keep borrowing conditions conducive for growth.

Post falling the 20-month low mark, the euro was higher against the US Dollar today, -$1.0761 per euro today vs $1.0763 Monday. While the Japanese Yen was trading slightly higher at 113.64 yen per $1 today vs 113.83 Monday.

The US Dollar dropped against most currencies, the impact is due to a rallying euro and stronger emerging markets. The WSJ Dollar Index, which measures the US currency against a basket of 16 others, was recently down 0.3% at 90.99.
